Library of Celsus in Ephesus
The library of Celsus in Ephesus (modern Selçuk, Turkey). It was built in honour of Roman Senator Tiberius Julius Celsus Polemaeanus and completed by his son in 135 AD. The library held 12,000 scrolls but was destroyed by an earthquake with all of its contents in 262 AD.
